Fused filament fabrication (FFF), also known under the trademarked term Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), sometimes also called filament freeform fabrication, is a 3D printing process that uses a continuous filament of a thermoplastic material.

FDM is now the most popular process (by a number of machines) for hobbyist-grade 3D printing. Other techniques such as photopolymerization and powder sintering may offer better results, but they are much more costly.

FDM is primarily a rapid prototyping technique that enables the quick, clean and cost-efficient development of prototypes and small functional components. It works through a CAD/CAM based design diagram, which is fed to an FDM system. The system sends design-specific commands to a controller’s head.

This process is repeated layer by layer based on specific design coordinates. The molten material becomes a solid object as soon it is exposed to a cooler environment

Factors to get it right!

1. Minimum Support
To achieve great finish and aesthetics, try to reduce 3D Printed Supports. This can be done by splitting the print into multiple parts.

2. Tuning Layer Height
Layer height is exactly what it sounds like: the exact height of each layer during fabrication.
Lower Height = Quality Finish = Higher Price
